Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs met with Mr. Paul Akiwumi, Director of the Africa, Least Developed Countries and Special Programmes Division at UNCTAD. The discussions centered on bolstering the existing partnership between Kenya and UNCTAD, with a particular focus on implementing the Holistic Productive Capacity Development Programme (HPCDP).
Launched in August 2023 in Nairobi, the HPCDP is seen as a transformative tool for Kenya’s economic growth. The meeting explored ways to put the program into action. The Prime Cabinet Secretary welcomed the UNCTAD delegation and acknowledged their crucial role in supporting Kenya’s development goals. He pledged his full support in coordinating relevant ministries to ensure the HPCDP’s successful implementation.
Other attendees included Mr. Mussie Delelegn Arega, UNCTAD’s acting head of the Productive Capacities and Sustainable Development Branch, Ambassador Joseph Masila, Kenya’s Director of Economic Affairs and Commercial Diplomacy, and Mr. Stephen Jackson, the UN Resident Coordinator in Kenya.
