Moscow, Russia – April 12, 2024 – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is seeking to forge closer ties with the BRICS group of nations, according to Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council (FNC).
Dr. Al Nuaimi attended a series of meetings in Moscow with high-level representatives from BRICS member states, including Valentina Matvienko, Chairwoman of Russia’s Federation Council, Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma, and Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Discussions focused on the potential for strengthening cooperation between the UAE and BRICS countries in key areas like economics, trade, and politics. Parliamentary collaboration also emerged as a significant point of emphasis, highlighting the role of legislative bodies in fostering closer ties.
Dr. Al Nuaimi was joined by fellow FNC member Sara Falaknaz during the productive meetings in Moscow.
The BRICS group comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
