King Letsie III of Lesotho welcomed the new Danish Ambassador, Elsebeth Sondergaard Krone, during a credential ceremony at the Royal Palace in Maseru on April 18th. Ambassador Krone is accredited to Lesotho on a non-residential basis from Pretoria, South Africa.
Lesotho shuttered its embassy in Copenhagen in 2005 due to budgetary constraints, but the two nations have maintained friendly relations. They collaborate through various UN organizations, including the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Denmark is a leading contributor of technical and financial assistance to Lesotho, channeled through the European Union Commission. Previously, Danish aid supported experience-sharing programs in Lesotho’s local government devolution projects.
