The Rwanda International Movie Awards (RIMA) gala is set to take place on April 1, at Crown hotel, Nyarutarama, and filmmakers and actors from various African countries have arrived in Kigali for the event.
Attendees include filmmakers from Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Cameroon and Rwanda. The event, now in its eighth edition in Rwanda and second international edition since 2019, is organised by Ishusho Arts, a Rwandan company that recognizes the finest films produced by Rwandan and foreign movie producers.
During their visit, the filmmakers toured the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where they expressed appreciation for the country’s peace and unity.
Nigerian actor, Mitchel Ogbonna, commended Rwanda’s president for his contribution to peace and unity, saying that Africans can only progress when they stand together without divisions.
Other attendees emphasised the importance of unity and collaboration among Africans in the film industry.
