Australian Governor-General David Hurley concluded his State visit to Vietnam on April 6, making him the first foreign leader to visit Vietnam in 2023 and the first national guest that President Vo Van Thuong received since taking office.
The visit marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia.
During the trip, Hurley held talks with Vietnamese leaders, visited educational institutions and the headquarters of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations in Hanoi, and laid wreaths at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs and the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
The leaders discussed strengthening cooperation in various fields, including security, defense, economy, trade, science, technology, education, and people-to-people exchange.
They also discussed upgrading the relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
