Indonesian President Joko Widodo chaired two out of the three meetings scheduled for the last day of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in 2023, which was held in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The announcement was made by the Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Teuku Faizasyah, on Thursday, May 11, 2023.
The President chaired the Retreat Session and the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Summit. The Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim chaired the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit, as Malaysia currently holds the chairmanship of BIMP-EAGA.
On the first day of the summit, President Joko Widodo chaired five meetings, including the Opening and Plenary Session, ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Representatives, ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with ASEAN Youth Representatives, ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) Representatives, and ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision (HLTF-ACV).
The summit was attended by eight ASEAN Heads of State or Government, the ASEAN Secretary-General, and the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste. The entire program of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in 2023 was concluded with a press conference by President Joko Widodo at the Media Center, Bintang Flores Hotel, Labuan Bajo, on Thursday, May 11, 2023.
