In an effort to promote democracy, human rights, and peace within the African Union Institutional Architecture, the Pan-African Parliament Civil Society Forum is set to hold a Parliamentary Dialogue. This engaging event will feature a Keynote Address by H.E. Yvonne Dausab, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Namibia, under the theme: “The Role of Civil Society in the Promotion of Democracy, Human Rights, and Peace and Security within the African Union Institutional Architecture.” The Dialogue is organized in collaboration with the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria and the Open Society Foundations.

The Parliamentary Dialogue aims to facilitate discussions and exchanges between parliamentarians and civil society representatives, recognizing the vital role civil society plays in advocating for democratic values, safeguarding human rights, and maintaining peace and security across the African continent. The event will provide a platform for fruitful deliberations and the exploration of collaborative strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the African Union’s institutional framework.
