Beijing – The Chinese government’s special representative for Eurasian affairs, Li Hui, has affirmed that the Chinese authorities are actively promoting the process of restoring peace in Ukraine and supporting the strategic independence of European countries.
During a meeting with European leaders in Brussels on Friday, Li expressed China’s unbiased stance on the Ukrainian issue and its commitment to advancing peace talks. The Chinese Foreign Ministry’s website quoted Li as saying, “China supports the strategic independence of European countries. We are exerting efforts for the sake of long-term stability in Europe.”
Highlighting the similarities in positions between Beijing and EU countries regarding Ukraine, Li emphasized the 20th anniversary of the upgraded China-EU relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership this year.
“China is ready to join forces with the European side in order to put into practice the important consensus that has been reached between the Chinese and European leadership,” Li stated.
Li further underlined China’s aim to ensure stability in Sino-European relations as a means to counter the uncertain situation in the international arena. The country seeks to foster a collaborative approach with Europe to address common challenges and uphold long-term stability.
