The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia marked the completion of Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs’ nearly 12-year tenure by unveiling his portrait in the ministers’ photogallery.
Minister Rinkēvičs played a pivotal role in firmly positioning Latvia within the European Union (EU) and NATO, particularly in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Notably, Latvia also became a member of the OECD during his tenure.
The minister’s leadership was evident in effective crisis management, including the organization of the largest repatriation of Latvian nationals amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
