Eswatini – His Majesty King Mswati III conveyed his appreciation for the support provided by the United States Government across various sectors during the celebration of the 247th Independence Day of the United States of America. Speaking through HRH Prince Gcina, the King acknowledged US assistance in health, education, security, job creation, and more. He also commended the recent recognition bestowed upon the Kingdom by Global AIDS Coordinator and PEPFAR Special Representative for Global Health Security, Dr. John Nkengasong.
Highlighting the enduring friendship between the Kingdom of Eswatini and the United States, His Majesty expressed optimism for the continued growth of the bilateral relationship. Over the past five decades, this friendship has fostered fruitful ties that benefit both nations.

The King emphasized the importance of addressing the challenges faced by Eswatini, particularly the growing youth population grappling with unemployment. He recognized initiatives that provide new business opportunities as critical for tackling this issue. The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) was specifically acknowledged for its role in creating employment by opening a market for locally produced goods.
As 2023 marks an election year in Eswatini, His Majesty highlighted the significance of democratic processes. He appreciated the American Government’s support in encouraging citizen participation, which contributed to impressive voter registration numbers. The King also commended efforts to empower women to run for office, as it aligns with the national goal of increasing women’s representation in Parliament.

While emphasizing the upcoming polls, His Majesty expressed concern for those in other countries who are deprived of the right to vote due to ongoing conflicts. He urged the United Nations and global security organizations to work towards silencing the guns and restoring peace, emphasizing the importance of peace for meaningful development. His Majesty emphasized the belief that no one should be left behind in the journey towards progress.
