Nairobi, July 19, 2023 – Dr. Alfred Mutua, the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, has taken a significant step in strengthening Kenya’s ties with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation by signing a crucial Host Country Agreement. The agreement paves the way for the establishment of the Bill and Melinda Gates Sub-regional Office in Nairobi, further solidifying the foundation’s commitment to the region.
Representatives from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Mr. Cheikh Oumar Seydi, Director for Africa, and Mr. Samburu Wa Shiko, Regional Representative for East Africa, were present to formalize the agreement with the Kenyan government.
The establishment of the Sub-regional Office in Nairobi is expected to foster closer collaboration and partnership between the foundation and Kenyan authorities.
