ST. PETERSBURG, July 27 – TASS, the Russian news agency, has taken significant strides in strengthening media partnerships with several African news agencies during the second Russia-Africa media forum. The Director General of TASS, Andrey Kondrashov, signed cooperation memorandums with the heads of Algeria Press Service, Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), Zimbabwe’s New Ziana, and Republic of Congo’s Central African News Agency (ADIAC).

The cooperation agreement with Algeria Press Service aims to foster mutual information sharing, covering each other’s activities and exploring collaboration in cutting-edge media technologies for the benefit of both parties. As the governmental news agency of Algeria, it plays a vital role in providing national and international news to Algerian press, radio, and TV.

Similarly, the memorandum with NAMPA reinforces the commitment to keep each other informed about planned events and ongoing projects while exploring opportunities for joint ventures in various media technologies. NAMPA is a member of the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA) and offers not only news and information services but also IT services.

The agreement with Zimbabwe’s New Ziana lays the foundation for bilateral cooperation, enabling the exchange of information, training of staff, and facilitating mutual visits of delegations. New Ziana, which is owned by the Zimbabwe Mass Media Trust, primarily by the state, is responsible for publishing eight provincial newspapers.

Lastly, the agreement with ADIAC signifies the strong intention to develop friendly and cooperative relations through the exchange of information. ADIAC serves as the core agency of the Bassin du Congo-SA media group and has a significant presence with offices in multiple locations, including Brazzaville, Pointe-Noire, Kinshasa, Rome, Brussels, and Paris. It publishes regional news through various dailies like Les Depeches de Brazzaville and Le Courrier de Kinshasa, as well as on its website and mobile app.

The memorandums signed during the Russia-Africa media forum reflect TASS’s dedication to fostering meaningful collaborations with African news agencies, facilitating information exchange, and promoting the adoption of cutting-edge media technologies to further enhance global communication and understanding.
