South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Dr Naledi Pandor, is in Kigali, Rwanda to participate in a three-day meeting of the African Union’s Executive Council.
Pandor was welcomed by South Africa’s High Commissioner to Rwanda, H.E Mr Mandisi Mpahlwa. She is accompanied by South Africa’s Permanent Representative to the African Union, H.E Mr Xolisa Makaya, and #DIRCO Deputy Director-General: Global Governance and Continental Agenda, Amb. Xolisa Mabhongo.

The meeting is part of a wider AU process to develop a draft Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan of Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want (2024-2034). The plan will be presented to the African Heads of State and Government at the AU Summit in February 2024 for consideration and endorsement.
The meeting is expected to discuss a range of issues, including the continent’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, peace and security, and climate change.
Pandor is expected to use the meeting to advocate for South Africa’s interests and to promote the continent’s development.
