The Sub-Saharan Africa Initiative of German Business (SAFRI) will for the third time in six years hold the German African Business Summit (GABS) scheduled for February 11 to 13, 2019 in Accra, Ghana.

The GABS, which is Germany’s signature business event in Africa will bring together top business and government leaders from Germany and Sub-Saharan Africa to discuss and promote economic relations between Europe’s largest economy and the fastest-growing region in the world. It will be chaired by the SAFRI Chairman, Prof. Dr. Heinz-Walter Große, Chairman of the Board of B. Braun Melsungen AG.

Every two years,  the GABS is organized through which German and African business interests meet, economic partnerships between Germany and Sub-Saharan Africa are strengthened, and business trends and market opportunities are explored. Not less than 750 participants are expected, comprising several decision makers in business, associations, and politics.

The Sub-Saharan Africa Initiative of German Business (SAFRI) is the voice of German business to policy-makers in Germany and the Sub-Saharan African region. The objective of SAFRI is to intensify co-operation with the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa and to foster mutual trade and investment. SAFRI is supporting the dialogue between German and African business and industry and providing a platform of exchange for German and African partners.

SAFRI is a joint initiative of leading business federations – the German-African Business Association (AV), the Federation of German Industries (BDI), the Federation of German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (BGA) and the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK).

There will opportunity during the GABS 2019  to meet and network with high ranking representatives from business and politics from Germany and Sub-Saharan Africa. Also, participants will have the chance to gather information on economic development, business opportunities, finance, digitalization and startups and so on. And they will be able to gain insights on current development and future potential for German-African business relations.
