The trade relationship between Pakistan and Ethiopia is taking a new turn as both countries are making plans for expansion.
This was revealed by the Chief Executive of the Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan, H.E. Zubair Motiwata, today.
Zubair said this during a side event discussion at the Ethiopia-Pakistan Business Forum between the Ethiopian government’s high-level business delegation and Pakistani counterparts.
On his part, State Minister of foreign affairs of Ethiopia, H.E. Mesganu Arga highlighted the policy and practices of doing business in Ethiopia.
Mesganu also mentioned the comparative advantages of the country for investment.
“… Federal Government of Ethiopia has undertaken a number of policy reforms in the past five years to increase foreign direct investment inflows.”
“Ethiopia is looking for more investment from Pakistan and wants to boost its trade volume,” added the State Minister.
Zubair maintained that the announcement of a direct flight from Ethiopia to Pakistan is an historic one for both countries.
“…the start of Ethiopian Airlines’ direct flight to Karachi marked today as a historic day between the two countries’ diplomatic relations.”
For Pakistan to strengthen its trade and investment relationship with Africa, Zubair noted that Ethiopia is the entry point.
“Ethiopia is a gateway to Pakistan’s vision of strengthening its existing trade and investment relations with Africa,” he said.
Zubair gave his words that Pakistan will expand its trade with Ethiopia with full commitment to make huge investments
