The Chinese government has marked its national day with a nationwide celebration. It was the 74th anniversary of the founding of a Chinese state and was commemorated in its embassies around the world.

In Jordan, the Chinese embassy in Amman, Jordan’s capital, organized an event to mark the special day.

At the event, Amb. Chen Chuandong, the Chinese ambassador to Jordan, extolled the strong ties both countries have shared, saying it was a result of their willful leadership and commitment to keep to the dictates of their relations in global affairs.

He began his speech by chronologically highlighting China’s 74-year-old journey through the turbulence of socio-economic and political evolution. He also spoke about China’s huge regional influence and its various mediation efforts around the globe.

He recapped the volume of trade between them, stating that it has grown astronomically in the past few years.

According to Amb. Chuandong, China’s imports from Jordan have significantly increased, reaching 25 percent. He also noted that the trade volume in the first seven months of 2023 peaked at nearly $3.5 billion.

He noted that the embassy had aided the development of Jordan by supporting about 400 young and older enterprising Jordanians in different areas, including technology, health, and agriculture.

The event was attended by the diplomatic community and officials of the government of China and Jordan. Also in attendance were journalists, and invited guests, some of whom came from outside Jordan.
