In the event marking the National Day of Spain, the Spanish diplomatic mission in Kuwait, headed by Amb. Miguel Moro Aguilar, expressed his pleasure for the event and how important it is to relations between Spain and the host country, Kuwait.

Speaking at the event, Amb. Moro Aguilar said, “We are glad to be marking this important day for all Spaniards and sharing it with our Kuwaiti friends and many of our country fellows, gathering together in this elegant ballroom at the Saint Regis Hotel.”

Amb. Moro Aguilar also spoke about Spain’s 6-month leadership within the European Union (EU) and how the country shares similar culture, principles, and values with Kuwait. He also extolled Kuwait and its leadership, stating that both countries are allies on many fronts, including diplomacy.

He further stated the relentless effort by Spain to give valve to EU-GCC and EU-Kuwait relations through the ministerial conference in Oman. He cited the recent visit by the EU special envoy for the GCC to Kuwait and the confirmation and approval of the Schengen visa for the citizens of Kuwait.

The ambassador, on behalf of the Government of Spain, conveyed the country’s best wishes to the leadership, Amir of HH Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and of the Crown Prince, H.H. Sheikh Mishal, Kuwait, and all the Kuwaiti people.

Amb. Moro Aguilar also said that Spain has remained a front-runner in global affairs, especially in the fight for the environment. He confirmed Spain’s readiness to cooperate with other countries, especially Kuwait and other countries in the Gulf areas, in the call for climate change.

According to him, Spain and Kuwait’s relations have begun to yield socio-economic results. He revealed Spain’s deliberation towards the establishment and activation of a direct flight schedule to Barcelona in over 40 years. He believed that such a move would increase active relations between the two countries while opening up new economic frontiers and boosting the tourism sector.

He spoke about Spanish citizens who live, work, and do business in Kuwait. According to him, there are about 400 Spaniards adding value to the economy of Kuwait while deepening relations between the two countries.
