On Tuesday, October 3, 2017, Germans all over the World, as well as their friends in the international community, will be rolling out drums to celebrate The Day of German Unity, (in German: Tag der Deutschen Einheit).

The National Day of Germany, celebrated annually, on October 3, as a public holiday, commemorates the anniversary of German reunification in 1990, when the goal of a united Germany that originated in the middle of the 19th century, was fulfilled again.

As Germans celebrate their National Day amid fanfare, under the distinguished leadership of Chancellor Angela Merkel, the German Consulate in Nigeria is not left out, as it is holding a colourful grand reception at its Consulate premises – 15, Walter Carrington Cresecent, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The epoch-making event billed for 7.30pm, today, will be declared open by the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Ingo Herbert.

Highlights of the event include grand performances by Popular Nigerian Pop sensation, Innocent Idibia, also known as 2Baba and fast-rising Jazz boy-band, Theosolites.
