LAGOS, Nigeria – In a significant development for Nigeria’s hospitality industry, Hilton on Tuesday unveiled its plans to open the Koko Beach Resort Ilashe Lagos, Curio Collection by Hilton, in 2025. This 60-room resort, located on Ilashe beach, marks the first internationally branded resort along the Atlantic coastline and the third property in the Curio Collection by Hilton in Africa.
The announcement was made during the Africa Hospitality Investment Forum (AHIF) at the upcoming Kwetu Nairobi, Curio Collection by Hilton. The Koko Beach Resort Ilashe Lagos, developed in collaboration with Outposts Investment Limited, aims to deliver a curated and authentic hospitality experience on Nigeria’s stunning Atlantic coast.
Nestled amidst pristine sandy beaches and lush natural surroundings, the resort draws inspiration from the unique landforms of the coast. Guests will enjoy luxurious suites and three-to-four-bedroom private villas boasting breathtaking sea views and direct access to the resort’s private beach. The property will feature three restaurants offering a diverse range of local and international cuisine, a lounge, and a lobby coffee shop.
The resort is designed to cater to the needs of both leisure and business travelers. Recreation enthusiasts can take advantage of the outdoor pool, indulge in relaxing spa treatments, stay active at the gym, or partake in thrilling water sports activities on the beach. Furthermore, the resort will offer additional amenities such as horse stables with a 630-meter coastline, a cinema, a sports complex, and a versatile meeting room and ballroom accommodating up to 750 guests.
Carlos Khneisser, Hilton’s Vice President of Development for the Middle East and Africa, expressed delight at the partnership with Outposts Investment Limited, emphasizing Hilton’s commitment to expanding its portfolio of world-class brands throughout Africa. The Koko Beach Resort Ilashe Lagos represents Hilton’s dedication to offering an authentic hospitality experience backed by the globally recognized service the brand is known for.
Situated in proximity to Snake Island, known for its privacy and exclusive homes, the resort takes its name from the abundance of coconut trees visible across the landscape. The coconut tree, often referred to as the “Tree of Life” due to its cultural significance, serves as a fitting inspiration for the property.
Accessibility to Koko Beach Resort Ilashe Lagos is provided via helicopter or boat from major centers in Southern Lagos. Additionally, a 30-minute shuttle service operates from designated docks in Lekki, Ikoyi and Victoria Island in Lagos State, ensuring convenience for guests.
Richard Shittu, CEO of Outposts Investment Limited and owner of Koko Beach Resort Ilashe Lagos, expressed his pride in partnering with Hilton. He highlighted Hilton’s century-long expertise in the hospitality industry and the joint commitment to delivering a curated experience at this exceptional beachfront destination.
Currently operating two hotels in Nigeria, Transcorp Hilton Abuja and Legend Hotel Lagos Airport, Curio Collection by Hilton, Hilton’s footprint in Africa is set to expand further. With 43 hotels already in operation across the continent and another 65 in the pipeline, including the upcoming Kwetu Nairobi, Curio Collection by Hilton, Hilton Kinshasa, and Waldorf Astoria Platte Island, Hilton is solidifying its presence as a leading hospitality company in Africa.
