Her Excellency Dorothy Samali Hyuha, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Uganda to the Commonwealth of Australia, on Tuesday, presented her credentials to the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, Dame Helen Winkelmann, at the Government House in Wellington, New Zealand.

The presentation of credentials ceremony is an important milestone in the diplomatic relations between Uganda and New Zealand. It marks the official commencement of Ambassador Hyuha’s duties in New Zealand and her commitment to solidifying the ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Hyuha is a seasoned diplomat, having previously served as High Commissioner of Uganda in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Dar El Salaam, Tanzania. Her wide-ranging experience in the diplomatic, political, and education arenas will serve her well in her new role. Her passion for education, especially for girls, sets her apart from other diplomats. She is an accomplished educator herself, and her dedication to promoting educational opportunities for girls in Uganda is outstanding.

As the former High Commissioner of Uganda to Malaysia, Ambassador Hyuha worked diligently to promote Uganda as a preferred investment and tourism destination. Her efforts led to an increase in trade between Uganda and Malaysia and encouraged more Malaysian tourists to visit Uganda.

As a member of the Central Executive Committee of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Ambassador Hyuha has extensive knowledge of Ugandan politics. Her experiences as a Member of Parliament for Tororo and later Butaleja Districts, as well as her tenure as the Minister Without Portfolio in the Cabinet of Uganda, have given her valuable skills and insights that she can apply in her new role in New Zealand.

Ambassador Hyuha’s new role demonstrates her dedication and excellence in the fields of diplomacy, politics, and education. It is expected she will make a positive impact as she embarks on this new journey in New Zealand.
