Qatar has formalized its diplomatic representation in Singapore as His Excellency Abdulaziz Bin Ahmed Al Malki Al Jehani presented his Letters of Credence to Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Istana on 6 January 2026. This ceremony completes the official process for his appointment as Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Singapore.
In remarks following the ceremony, Ambassador Al Jehani conveyed warm greetings from His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of Qatar, along with best wishes for ongoing prosperity to President Shanmugaratnam and the people of Singapore. The President offered his own greetings and extended well wishes to the leadership and citizens of Qatar.
The accreditation comes amid a period of active engagement between Qatar and key Asian partners. Singapore has long served as a commercial and financial gateway in Southeast Asia, while Qatar pursues balanced ties across economic, technological, and policy domains. Bilateral links between the two nations encompass trade, investment flows, energy cooperation, and regulatory engagement.
