Dr. Benson A. Bana, Tanzania’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, recently held a meeting with Madam Toki Mabogunje, a renowned Nigerian lawyer, broadcaster, poet, and business consultant who has been proposed as Honorary Consul of Tanzania in Lagos. The Tanzanian High Commission reported on its official website that the discussion centered on matters of mutual interest for the bilateral ties between Tanzania and Nigeria.

Mabogunje has had a varied career, including a nine-year stint at the Federal Ministry of Justice and senior positions at Mercantile and Industrial and Minaj Media Group. She later founded her consulting firm, Toki Mabogunje & Co., which offers legal and business advisory services to small and medium enterprises. Mabogunje holds academic qualifications from universities and institutions in Nigeria, England, the United States, Italy, and the Netherlands.

The proposed appointment as Honorary Consul of Tanzania in Lagos, Mabogunje would play a crucial role in strengthening the relationship between Tanzania and Nigeria, particularly in trade and investment, tourism, and cultural exchange. Her expertise in business development, value chain development, project financing, and strategic organization and management could benefit small and medium enterprises in both countries.

The working lunch between Dr. Benson A. Bana and Madam Toki Mabogunje is a promising development in the relationship between Tanzania and Nigeria. Her appointment as Honorary Consul would undoubtedly deepen the bilateral ties between the two nations and open up opportunities for more significant cooperation and mutual benefits in the future.
