Dallas, Texas – The Tanzanian American Chamber of Commerce recently opened its doors in Dallas, marking a major stride towards strengthening trade and investment between Tanzania and the United States.
Ambassador Dr. Elsie Sia Kanza leads the high-profile opening ceremony, joined by dignitaries like Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson, Ms. Katherine Ho of the U.S. Department of State, and Ms. Florie Liser, President of the Corporate Council on Africa.
This initiative aligns with Mayor Johnson’s vision for a “Foreign Trade Offices Initiative,” designed to strengthen Dallas’s international profile. The Tanzanian Trade Office, under the Tanzanian American Chamber of Commerce’s management, leverages Dallas’s status as a business and transportation hub to fuel trade and investment opportunities between the two nations.
The establishment of this trade office signifies the culmination of collaborative efforts that began in 2021. A virtual meeting between Mayor Johnson and Tanzanian Foreign Minister Liberata Mulamula kickstarted the process. Subsequent discussions and a signed Memorandum of Understanding solidified the plans between Ambassador Kanza and Mayor Johnson.
“This opening ceremony realizes the shared vision of Dallas and Tanzania for collaboration,” declares Mayor Johnson in a press statement. He emphasized the trade office’s importance in expanding Dallas’s global presence and building stronger international partnerships.
Ambassador Kanza hails the event as a milestone in solidifying commercial ties between the two countries. “The establishment of the Tanzanian American Chamber of Commerce and the operationalization of the Tanzania Trade office in Dallas marks a significant milestone in our quest for deepening commercial partnership between Tanzania and the United States of America,” stated Ambassador Kanza.“ She expresses her delight at the warm welcome Tanzania receives from Dallas, particularly under Mayor Johnson’s leadership.
The Tanzanian American Chamber of Commerce becomes the third trade office to join Dallas’s International District. This underlines the city’s commitment to fostering economic exchange, foreign direct investment, and cultural understanding.
