Washington, D.C. — On Sunday, April 6, 2025, the Touch of China in Chinatown Chinese Cultural Performances and Experience Festival returns to Washington, D.C. From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Gallery Place Pavilion at 701 7th Street NW will host a full day of live performances, cultural demonstrations, and interactive activities for families and visitors. The event offers a hands-on introduction to traditional Chinese culture in the heart of Chinatown.
The American Chinese School, Hope Chinese School, and Howard County Chinese School, in collaboration with the Chinatown Community Cultural Center, present this event to share the richness of Chinese traditions with the community. The festival invites families, students, and visitors to explore Chinese culture through interactive experiences and live performances.
Attendees can watch Peking Opera, Tai Chi, and Shaolin Kung Fu demonstrations, or enjoy the elegance of water sleeve dances and Chinese instrumental music. Hands-on activities include calligraphy, dough figure making, fan painting, and traditional crafts like paper-cutting and clay sculpture. Families can join workshops to make dumplings, glutinous rice balls, zongzi, and mooncakes. Children will love panda cosplay, traditional games, and an outdoor LED screening of the animated film Nezha.
The festival offers a welcoming space for everyone, whether they’re new to Chinese culture or reconnecting with their roots. Entry is free, and everyone is encouraged to attend. For more information follow this link
