SINGAPORE, 6 January 2026 —His Excellency Uma Shanker Mishra formally presented his Letters of Credence to Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, at the Istana, assuming office as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Saint Kitts and Nevis to Singapore.

The ceremony placed Saint Kitts and Nevis’ diplomatic engagement with Asia on a clear and formal footing. As a small island state with an open economy, Saint Kitts and Nevis continues to widen its external partnerships beyond the Atlantic, with Asia occupying a central role in its foreign policy. Singapore’s global reputation for finance, trade policy, and institutional discipline offers a practical reference point for Saint Kitts and Nevis as it enhances its own focus on financial services, tourism, climate resilience, and international mobility.

After the presentation, Ambassador Mishra conveyed greetings from the Government and people of Saint Kitts and Nevis and expressed confidence in productive cooperation ahead. In his words, “I had the honour today to present my Letters of Credence to His Excellency President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, at the Istana, formally assuming office as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the Republic of Singapore. I look forward to working closely with Singaporean partners to further strengthen cooperation and friendship between our two countries.” President Shanmugaratnam conveyed his own greetings and goodwill to the leadership and people of Saint Kitts and Nevis, showing the cordial tone of the exchange.

Ambassador Mishra brings more than 25 years of professional experience to his posting. Trained as an attorney and solicitor, he has worked across legal practice, international finance, and strategic advisory roles, including senior positions within global financial institutions where he advised on portfolio strategy, risk frameworks, and governance structures. Before his diplomatic appointment, he held leadership roles within international investment and wealth-management initiatives, experience that informs his engagement on economic and institutional matters.

Alongside his professional career, Ambassador Mishra founded the Global Human Care Foundation, which carries out philanthropic initiatives across Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. He also contributes to international discussions on finance, sustainable development, and governance, linking policy, private capital, and social development in his public work.

With the presentation of credentials completed, Ambassador Mishra begins his tenure in Singapore with a mandate focused on advancing bilateral engagement, encouraging dialogue across economic and policy sectors, and representing Saint Kitts and Nevis within one of Asia’s most influential diplomatic environments.
