The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiar Odilov, said that the country looks forward to cordial cooperation between it and Bangladesh, especially in the areas of trade and investment. According to him, he hoped that such mutual relations would become high-yielding in the coming years.
The minister said this during the visit of the newly appointed ambassador of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan, Dr. Mohammad Monirul Islam, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Uzbekistan.
While welcoming Amb. Monirul Islam, Amb. Odilov used the occasion to wish him and his team a successful mission. He also asked him to send his well wishes to the people of Bangladesh and also to the minister of foreign affairs.
On his part, Amb. Monirul Islam recalled how the Bangladesh Embassy in Uzbekistan was established and announced that there will be a direct flight between the major cities of Dhaka and Tashkent.
He applauded the relations between the two countries but also pleaded with Uzbekistan businessmen to leverage the opportunities the Bangladesh government offers. He thanked the president of Uzbekistan, the minister, and the people of Uzbekistan. While concluding his speech, he asked Amb. Odilov to visit Bangladesh.
The two diplomats agreed to continue to work together for the advancement of their countries mutual interests in sectors that are critical for the development of their economies.
