Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on Monday during her visit to attend the presidential inauguration ceremony.
During their meeting, Vice President Xuan praised Indonesia’s recent economic and social progress. She expressed confidence that under President Subianto’s leadership, Indonesia will reach its vision of becoming a developed nation by 2045 and grow its influence across Asia and globally.
The Vice President advocated for expanded market access for Vietnamese agricultural and Halal-certified products in Indonesia, along with support for Vietnamese investments.
President Subianto thanked Vietnam’s leadership for sending Vice President Xuan to represent the country at his inauguration. He described Vietnam as a key regional partner and noted the strong potential for deeper cooperation between both nations.
The leaders reviewed the flourishing strategic partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia. They committed to strengthening connections at all levels – from government channels to community exchanges and local partnerships.
Looking ahead to 2025, they discussed plans for joint activities to honor 70 years of diplomatic ties and both countries’ 80th independence anniversaries.
The two nations aim to boost bilateral trade to US$18 billion. They will encourage businesses to invest in emerging sectors like Halal industries, digital economy, green initiatives, energy transition, and electric vehicle development.
The leaders also agreed to expand defense, security, and maritime collaboration while combating cross-border crime. They pledged to work together in regional forums, particularly through ASEAN, to address challenges in the East Sea.
Both sides supported swift progress on an effective Code of Conduct in the East Sea that aligns with international law and UNCLOS 1982.
This high-level meeting deepens the growing partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia as they pursue shared goals for regional prosperity and stability.
