Xiaomi unveiled its highly anticipated YU7 SUV at a launch event in Beijing, announcing its pricing and opening orders. Within three minutes of the launch, Xiaomi reported that the YU7 had garnered 200,000 orders, as shared via their official Weibo account.
Pricing and Ordering Details
The Xiaomi YU7 is priced competitively, starting at 253,500 yuan (approximately $35,300) for the Standard trim, which boasts an 830 km CLTC range. Customers can secure their order with a refundable 5,000 yuan ($700) deposit, locking in their purchase for seven days. For those eager to expedite delivery, a 20,000 yuan deposit ensures immediate order confirmation, with Xiaomi noting a limited batch of “quasi-ready cars” available for swift delivery.
The YU7 undercuts the Tesla Model Y, China’s best-selling car of 2024, by 10,000 yuan, as the Model Y RWD starts at 263,500 yuan.
High Demand Expected
Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, projected that demand for the YU7 would triple that of the company’s first model, the SU7 sedan, launched in March 2024. This prediction aligns with China’s market trends, where SUVs outsell sedans at a 3:1 ratio. The SU7 saw 50,000 preorders in 27 minutes and nearly 90,000 in 24 hours, delivering over 272,000 units from March 2024 to May 2025, according to China EV DataTracker.
YU7 Trim Options and Specifications
The YU7 is available in three trims: Standard, Pro, and Max, with prices ranging from 253,500 to 329,900 yuan ($35,300–$46,000).
- Standard Trim (253,500 yuan): Features a 96.3 kWh LFP battery, offering an 830 km CLTC range. This rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model has a single 235 kW (315 hp) motor with 528 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.88 seconds.
- Pro Trim (279,900 yuan): An all-wheel-drive (AWD) model with dual motors (235 kW rear, 130 kW front) for a combined 365 kW (489 hp). It uses the same 96.3 kWh LFP battery, providing a 770 km CLTC range.
- Max Trim (329,900 yuan): Also AWD, with dual motors (220 kW front, 338 kW rear) delivering 508 kW (681 hp) and 866 Nm of torque. Equipped with a 101.7 kWh NMC battery, it offers a 760 km range and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.23 seconds.

Design and Technology
The YU7, a 5-door, 5-seater SUV, is built on Xiaomi’s Modena platform, with dimensions of 4999 x 1996 x 1608 mm and a 3,000 mm wheelbase. All trims utilize an 800V high-voltage architecture and Xiaomi’s in-house V6S Plus motors, capable of 22,000 RPM. The battery supports 5.2C fast charging, achieving a 10–80% charge in 12 minutes and adding up to 620 km of range in 15 minutes.
Competitive Landscape
The YU7 directly challenges the Tesla Model Y, which has seen a 24% sales drop in China from January to May 2025 compared to the previous year. It also competes with models like the BYD Sealion 07, Zeekr 7X, Onvo L60, and Xpeng G7 in China’s crowded SUV market.
