PARIS, 30th June, 2023 – Olivier Becht, the French Minister of Foreign Trade, emphasized the shared vision between France and the UAE in accelerating the transition to green energy as a response to the escalating challenges posed by climate change.
Becht stated that the two nations are actively collaborating on developing low-carbon energy solutions, expressing confidence in the UAE’s capability to successfully host COP28 at Expo City Dubai in November.
The global community recognizes and acknowledges the UAE’s leadership role in climate change, he further added.
In an exclusive statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Becht underscored the joint commitment of the UAE and France in expediting the shift towards green energy to address the increasing risks associated with global warming. He highlighted the surge in natural disasters triggered by climate change, emphasizing the urgent need for action.
“The environmental challenges we face motivate us to be more courageous and dedicated in our efforts to accelerate the energy transition. This is why the UAE and France have embarked on several collaborative projects across various sectors, including hydrogen and nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, aiming to generate clean energy that represents the future of the industry,” Becht stated.
Becht also highlighted the deep-rooted relations between the UAE and France, noting his upcoming visit to the UAE to discuss strategies for enhancing economic cooperation and taking it to new heights.
