H.E. Madeleine Garlick, Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom (UK) to the African Union (AU), paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ntšiuoa Sekete, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the AU and United Nations Commission for Africa (UNECA) on Friday, August 25, 2023.
The two ambassadors discussed the long-standing relations between the two kingdoms, as well as their role and contributions to the African Union’s efforts to achieve its broad development and integration mandate. They also talked about Lesotho’s future economic and cultural projects.
Ambassador Sekete highlighted Lesotho’s intention to hold a Water and Hydrogen Conference and EXPO in October 2023, which will be held amid Lesotho’s much-anticipated bicentenary of the birth of the Basotho Nation in 2024. Ambassador Sekete, a Chevening Alumni, also commended the United Kingdom for its support to the Kingdom of Lesotho in the development of human capital, citing the five scholarships awarded this week to five Basotho to pursue their MA Degrees in UK universities in the next academic year.
Both ambassadors agreed to work together to develop plans, communication, and collaboration for the mutual benefit of the two kingdoms.
