The Embassy of Poland in the United States hosted a remarkable celebration of the Armed Forces, uniting friends and allies in a memorable evening at Ambassador Marek Magierowski’s Residence. The event was marked by insightful speeches, underlining the strength of transatlantic bonds, and commemorating the unique spirit of soldiers.
Iwona Rybka-Iwanska, Head of Public Diplomacy and Culture Section at the Polish Embassy in the U.S., extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests present. In her opening remarks, she emphasized the vital role of unity in today’s world, highlighting its significance in diplomacy and international relations.
“In a time of growing uncertainty, it is more important than ever that we stand united in defense of our shared values,” she said. “The bonds between Poland and the United States are strong and enduring, and this event is a testament to that fact.”
Ambassador Marek Magierowski, in his riveting speech, paid homage to the indomitable spirit of the Armed Forces. Drawing parallels to historical military leaders like Napoleon Bonaparte, Ambassador Magierowski highlighted the awe-inspiring qualities of soldiers who have always stood at the forefront of defending freedom and democracy.
“The men and women in uniform are the embodiment of the best that our nations have to offer,” he said. “They are the guardians of our security and the guarantors of our peace.”
The event also featured a distinguished guest from the United States Department of Defense. Dr. William LaPlante, the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition & Sustainment, praised the strong transatlantic bonds between Poland and the United States. He reaffirmed the United States’ unwavering commitment to ensuring stability in the region, emphasizing that the nation would do whatever is necessary for as long as necessary.
“Poland is a vital ally, and we stand with them shoulder to shoulder,” he said. “Together, we will continue to work to build a more peaceful and secure world.”

Brigadier General Krzysztof Nolbert, Head of the Polish Embassy Military Attaché Office, brought the event to a poignant conclusion by highlighting a historic moment. He remarked that during the recent Armed Forces parade in Warsaw on August 15th, there were no Soviet vehicles for the first time ever. This symbolic absence underscored the demise of the vestiges of the Warsaw Pact, signifying that a new era of unity and cooperation has dawned in the region.
