The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan, Hon. Dr. Amb. James Pitia Morgan, signed three conventions during a ceremony held at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Friday, October 21, 2023.
The three conventions signed are Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, International Convention for the Suppression of Terrorist Financing, United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime
South Sudan’s signing of the three conventions demonstrates its commitment to international cooperation and its efforts to combat illegal activities and promote peace and security.
The UN Undersecretary for Legal Affairs and the Head of the Treaty Section were present at the signing ceremony, reflecting the gravity and official nature of the occasion.
The Minister was accompanied by Amb. Dr. Riek Puok, Director General for Multilateral Relations. Also, the signing ceremony was attended by members of South Sudan’s Permanent Mission in New York.
