Ahmedabad, India: Strengthening their strategic partnership, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and India signed a series of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) today, paving the way for closer collaboration in food security, renewable energy, healthcare, and ports. The agreements were inked in a ceremony witnessed by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the deepening ties between the two nations.
The MoUs represent a significant step forward in several key areas:
- Food Security: Investing in the development of food complexes will not only boost agricultural production in both countries but also enhance food security and contribute to regional stability.
- Renewable Energy: Recognizing the urgency of tackling climate change, the two nations have pledged to collaborate on renewable energy projects. This ambitious partnership holds immense potential for transitioning towards sustainable energy sources and reducing carbon footprints.
- Healthcare Innovation: The MoU on healthcare cooperation signifies a commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies and expertise to improve healthcare delivery and address critical public health challenges.

The ceremony witnessed the exchange of MoUs by high-ranking officials from both sides. Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment, and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World, represented the UAE, while Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar (External Affairs), Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya (Health & Family Welfare), Pashupati Kumar Paras (Food Processing Industries), and Rajkumar Beniwal (Vice Chairman & CEO of the Indian Administrative Service) signed on behalf of India.
The event was also graced by prominent dignitaries, including H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan (UAE Foreign Minister), H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan (Advisor for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court), and a number of other officials from both countries.
