Accra, Ghana – Citizens of Ghana and Malawi can now enjoy visa-free travel between the two countries, fostering closer ties and boosting travel opportunities. The new visa waiver agreement, effective February 7, 2024, simplifies travel for holders of ordinary, diplomatic, and service passports.
Announced by Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on March 21, 2024, the agreement allows visits for up to 90 days within a year, provided travelers are not seeking employment. This eliminates the need for visa applications and associated fees, making travel between the two nations significantly more convenient.
The visa waiver is expected to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between Ghana and Malawi. Increased people-to-people contact and travel flows will create opportunities for cultural exchange, business ventures, and collaboration on various fronts.
