South Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Hon. Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, met with Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, the Executive Secretary of IGAD (Intergovernmental Authority on Development), to review the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.
The meeting focused on the current state of the peace process and upcoming steps. Minister Morgan briefed Dr. Gebeyehu on the government’s perspective and highlighted the importance of the upcoming political parties dialogue for achieving lasting peace.
He expressed his appreciation for IGAD’s continued support, dating back to the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement and continuing through the 2018 Revitalized Agreement.
Dr. Gebeyehu thanked the Minister for the insights and said the information would be crucial for his report to the IGAD Heads of State at the upcoming summit in Nairobi.
