Islamabad, Pakistan – Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghaddam held a productive meeting with Pakistani Foreign Office officials to discuss a wide range of topics, including regional developments and the situation of Pakistani citizens aboard the Israeli-flagged ship, MSC Aries.
The discussions delved into ongoing regional issues, with both sides seeking a path forward. Additionally, the fate of Pakistani nationals detained on the vessel was a key point of conversation. Iranian diplomats expressed a desire for improved access to the detained Pakistanis to ensure their well-being.
Looking towards the future, the meeting also touched upon Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s upcoming visit to Pakistan next week. Discussions regarding potential agreements and memorandums of understanding to be signed during the visit were held.
The agenda further encompassed crucial economic matters, including the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline project and the possibility of a Free Trade Agreement.
Ambassador Moghaddam reportedly offered assurances of the Iranian government’s full cooperation in securing the early release of the detained Pakistanis.
