Abu Dhabi, UAE – April 19, 2024 – Romanian Prime Minister Ion-Marcel Ciolacu paid his respects to the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Founding Father, during a visit to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque on Friday.
Ciolacu, accompanied by UAE Ambassador to Romania Sultan Mohammed Al-Ali and Romanian Ambassador to the UAE Bogdan Octavian Badica, began his tour at the final resting place of Sheikh Zayed. There, he acknowledged the late leader’s wisdom and commitment to promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence among nations.
Dr. Yousif Al Obaidli, Director-General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre (SZGMC), then led the Prime Minister and his delegation on a comprehensive tour of the mosque’s halls and exterior. The tour highlighted the mosque’s role in fostering understanding and communication between cultures.
Discussions focused on the mosque’s embodiment of the values of coexistence, tolerance, and openness – principles central to the UAE’s rich legacy established by Sheikh Zayed. Ciolacu learned about the mosque’s efforts to promote the true essence of Islamic culture on a global scale.
To commemorate his visit, Ciolacu received two special publications from the SZGMC. “Spaces of Light” showcases the winning entries of the mosque’s annual photography competition, celebrating its visual grandeur. The other book, titled “Houses of God,” delves into the history of Islamic places of worship.
