Russia has criticized a recent US package that allocates military aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova took to Telegram to express strong disapproval, claiming the aid will worsen global crises.
“The military aid earmarked by the United States… will exacerbate the global crises,” Zakharova wrote. She went on to make specific accusations against each recipient. The aid to Ukraine, she said, is “direct financial support of terrorist activity,” a reference to Russia’s characterization of the Ukrainian government.
Regarding Taiwan, Zakharova framed the aid as “interference in China’s domestic affairs,” reflecting a long-standing point of contention between the US and China. Finally, she claimed US aid to Israel would lead to an “unprecedented escalation in the region.”
The US House of Representatives approved the $95 billion package on Saturday. It includes $60 billion for Ukraine, $26 billion for Israel, and humanitarian aid for civilians in conflict zones.
