The Denmark Ambassador to Ghana, Madam Tove Degnbol, has restated the commitment of her country to strengthen its economic ties with the Republic of Ghana.

Degnbol, gave this reassurance when she paid a courtesy visit to the Asogli Palace in Ho, the Volta Regional capital of Ghana, where she and her delegation were received  by the Paramount Chief, Asogli Traditional Council and President of the National House of Chiefs, Ghana, Togbe Afede XIV.

Also joining the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State to receive the Danish envoy and her delegation, were Dr. Archibald Yao, Letsa Regional Minister; His Deputy, Hon. Maxwell Blagogee; Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. John Nelson Kwesi Akorli, including other sub chiefs and queen mothers of the Asogli Traditional Council.

As customs demand, the Danish Ambassador was accompanied by the Danish Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Peter Eilschow Olesen were taken through the traditional rites of the state as done always to welcome visitors to the palace.

Expressing her delight on the visit, Degnbol stated that her visit to the palace was necessitated by the request of Her Excellency, Queen Margrethe II, Queen of Denmark to meet with Togbe Afede XIV when she visits Ghana later this year.

She recounted that her mission to the palace was to formally invite the Paramount Chief of Asogli, Togbe Afede XIV, to meet with the Queen, when she visits Ghana.

She jokingly quipped that the queen was now old and could not really move around when she visits Ghana, saying the Queen’s visit would be quite short.

Meanwhile, Togbe Afede XIV, who said he welcomed the Danish envoy and her delegation on behalf of the people, chiefs and queen mothers of Asogli, however, briefly restated the history of trade activities between the Danish and people of the Volta Region during the colonial era.

He accepted the invitation and said that he looked forward to meeting with her Royal Highness, Queen Margrette II.

Recall that Queen Margrette II who succeeded her father, Frederick IX of Denmark in 1972 as the first female monarch of Denmark has been on the Danish throne for 45 years.

Her State Visit to Ghana is billed for November 23-24, 2017.

The Danish Queen would be accompanied by more than 30 Danish businesses, even as the State Visit aims to further establish, strengthen and promote the links, social, commercial and cultural ties between both countries.

Togbe Afede XIV, eminent personalities in Ho as they receive the Danish Ambassador,Madam Tove Degnbol and her delegation at a ceremony organized in his Palace.

With her, the Queen brings several Danish Ministers, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The main focus of the State Visit will focus on major sectors of Ghanaian businesses, where Danish companies are global leading experts – Maritime, Infrastructure and Railways, Food and Agriculture and lastly Sustainability.

These are areas, where Danish businesses will be able to strengthen Ghanaian businesses with knowledge, expertise among others.

Meanwhile, an official Danish business delegation will visit Accra, as a substantial part of the state visit will focus on strengthening commercial relations between Denmark and Ghana.
