Save the date—March 28, 2025—for an evening that brings together women leaders, diplomats, and changemakers at Women in Diplomacy: Leadership, Impact, and Engagement. Hosted by Diplomatic Watch Magazine in partnership with the Chinese American Museum in Washington, D.C., this event promises an evening of thoughtful dialogue, connections, and cultural exchange.
From 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, participants will take part in a dynamic program designed to spotlight women shaping diplomacy, business, and global affairs. The evening takes place alongside global conversations during the sixty-ninth session of the Commission on the Status of Women, offering a unique moment to engage in-person with leaders creating impact around the world.
Expect concise, powerful talks from accomplished women across diplomacy, trade, philanthropy, and human rights. Sherrie Beckstead, Partner at The Lockkeepers Collection, will explore Women’s Leadership in Business and Philanthropy: Bridging Cultures, Building Impact. Elena V. Son– LaRocco, Executive Director of the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC), the US-Kyrgyzstan Business Council (USKGZBC), the US-Tajikistan Business Council (USTJBC), and The US-Afghanistan Business Initiative (USABI) will discuss Women, Trade, and Tying Central Asia Together: A New Silk Road Story. Alexandria J. Maloney, President of Black Professionals in International Affairs, will offer insight on Intergenerational Diplomacy: Bridging Experience and Emerging Leadership. Beth Akiyama, Executive Director of the Church of Scientology’s National Affairs Office, will speak on Championing Human Rights: Women’s Leadership in Global Advocacy.
The evening also includes performances by Dan Zhang, Professor of Viola at the Catholic University of America and Washington Adventist University; Kristin Sampson, Executive Director of the Washington Opera Society; and Rizwan Jagani, Principal Violist at the Classical Music Festival Eisenstadt. Their performances will add an artistic layer to the experience, enriching the atmosphere.
The reception is designed to encourage authentic conversations and professional connections. Curated food and beverages will be served throughout the evening. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore the Chinese American Museum’s exhibits, which offer a rich cultural lens that complements the evening’s discussions.
