ATHENS, Greece – Dr. Lindiwe Gail Msengana-Ndlela, South Africa’s new ambassador to the Hellenic Republic, presented her credentials to President Katerina Sakellaropoulou on October 13, 2023.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Msengana-Ndlela expressed her hope that the Hellenic Republic and its Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Gerapetritis, will continue to place a strong emphasis on the African Agenda. She also expressed her desire to use her term of duty to advance commercial and cultural relations between the two countries, with the support of the diaspora.
Ambassador Msengana-Ndlela is a career diplomat with over 30 years of experience. She has served in various positions at the South African Department of Foreign Affairs, including as Director-General for Africa and the Middle East. She has also served as South Africa’s ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union.
The Hellenic Republic and South Africa have strong bilateral relations, dating back to the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1994. The two countries have close cooperation in a number of areas, including trade, investment, and tourism.
