Paramaribo, Suriname – A delegation from Expertise Centrum Leadership Defense (ECLD) of the Dutch Defense paid a visit to Suriname last week at the invitation of Defense Minister Mrs. Mathoera. The primary focus of the visit was to incorporate the newly developed “Vision Leadership of the Suriname Defense” into the country’s military operations.
The week-long visit included an intensive team coaching session for the entire Suriname Defense Council and training sessions for five assembled groups from the Suriname military. These sessions delved into the meaning of vision leadership and provided guidance on its practical implementation.

At the conclusion of the visit, all participants received certificates of completion, ranging from the minister and her Defense Council to the Suriname basic team and leadership coaches. Minister Mathoera emphasized that, despite the Suriname National Army’s limited resources, innovation and self-improvement should not be hindered. She expressed her appreciation for the ECLD’s support and requested that the Dutch ambassador, Mr. Walter Oostelbos, continue this collaboration in 2024. The Dutch Ministry of Defense has responded favorably to this request.
