Windhoek, Namibia – The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia hosted the 2nd Session of the Namibia-Brazil Diplomatic Consultations on December 4th, 2023. The meeting highlighted the thriving relationship between the two countries, particularly in the areas of defense and agriculture.
In his opening remarks, Amb. Penda Naanda, Executive Director of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation and Chair of the consultations, praised the success of bilateral cooperation between Namibia and Brazil. He noted their strong partnership in defense and navy, and the recent collaboration in food security through Brazil’s contribution to Namibia’s agricultural projects via the World Food Programme.
Amb. Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte, Secretary for Africa and the Middle East of the Brazilian Ministry of External Affairs, highlighted the vast potential for further cooperation. He announced a generous donation of $120,000 from Brazil to support Namibian agricultural initiatives, aimed at achieving food security, developing skills, and creating employment opportunities.
The Namibia-Brazil partnership extends beyond agriculture, encompassing education and training, naval diplomacy, and is expected to expand into new areas like the creative industries. This deepening relationship strengthens both nations and contributes to their shared goals.
