Bratislava, Slovakia – November 24 – The International Women’s Club of Bratislava (IWC) hosted its 30th annual Charity Christmas Bazaar on Sunday at the historic Old Market Hall (Stará tržnica). Mayor Matúš Vallo, representing the city and its entities in the Partnership Council lent his patronage to this distinguished event, which brings together the city’s diplomatic and international communities in their largest collaborative fundraising effort.
Embassies across Bratislava set up stalls offering national delicacies and distinctive crafts, while cultural performances filled the venue with music and dance. The event channels all proceeds to Slovak NGOs that assist children’s homes, elderly care facilities, sheltered workshops, and organizations dedicated to health, education, disability services, and poverty reduction.
Over the past three decades, the bazaar has raised more than €1.3 million to support these causes, according to IWC President Viera Buchtová. This year’s event drew representatives from 30 countries, alongside Slovak charitable organizations and international schools, demonstrating the bazaar’s broad reach and inclusive nature.
The IWC, established in 1991 as a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organization, unites members from various cultural backgrounds living in Slovakia. Their annual bazaar exemplifies how communities can come together to help others, regardless of their cultural or religious differences.
