In a recent ceremony held at the Czech Embassy in Washington D.C., H.E. Miloslav Stašek, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United States presented the Distinguished Diplomacy Medal to Roger W. Robinson, Jr., Chairman and Co-Founder of the Prague Security Studies Institute in the Czech Republic. The prestigious award was bestowed upon Robinson by Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský, recognizing his outstanding contributions to foreign policy and democracy.
Robinson, currently heading the Prague Security Studies Institute and PSSI Washington Inc., began his career as the Senior Director of International Economic Affairs at the Reagan National Security Council. As the mastermind behind the secret economic and financial strategy for the Soviet Union’s dismantling, his influence has had a lasting impact on global geopolitics.
Subsequently, Robinson chaired the Congressional U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission from 2001 to 2006, actively shaping U.S.-China economic policies and addressing security concerns. His role as Vice President at the Chase Manhattan Bank involved managing loan portfolios in critical regions during a pivotal historical period.
Beyond his government and financial roles, Robinson served as the President & CEO of RWR Advisory Group, specializing in assessing Chinese and Russian risk factors in U.S. capital markets. His expertise in security-related risk and economic relations has made him a sought-after expert witness before Senate and House Committees.
Robinson’s academic background includes a B.A. from Duke University and an M.A. from the Elliott School of George Washington University. His commitment to academia is evident in his service as a member of the Board of Visitors at the Sanford Institute of Public Policy at Duke University from 1986 to 1993.
