Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi is meeting with Saudi’s officials today Sunday the second of April, as Sisi makes moves to re-engineer the economy and ease the pressure on its currency.
The North-African country, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf allies have enjoyed robust diplomatic relations for a long while, and Egypt may look to leverage on that.
According to Reuters, the trip also intends to attend to a diplomatic realignment in the region which encompasses Syria, Iran and Turkey. This is after Egypt signed a $3 billion rescue plan with the International Monetary Fund in December, 2022.
It is on record that Saudi Arabia and the Gulf allies have been providing bail-out for Egypt as the country’s financial crisis bites harder though, the promised investments to spark up the economy have come in slow-paced.
