The Egyptian embassy in Washington, DC, marked the country’s national day with a celebration organized at the behest of the ambassador. In an elaborate ceremony to commemorate the day, the ambassador, praised the hospitality of the host country while alluding to the support of the U.S. government for missions in Washington, DC.

Zahran expressed his expectations, saying that he hopes that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries continue well into the future.

The event that took place at the Egyptian embassy marked the 71st Anniversary of the 1952 Revolution, an event that changed the fortunes of the country by heralding a new political structure and regime.

It was well attended by the members of the Diplomatic Corps’ and a list of U.S. Congressmen and women. Also present were government functionaries, policymakers, public officers, media figures, and celebrities.

While speaking to the guests, Amb. Zahran reiterated his earlier appreciation of U.S. government support and hospitality. He stated that diplomatic relations between Egypt and the U.S. have existed for so long. To buttress his point, he pointed to the 2022 celebration of 100 years of outstanding diplomatic relations between the two countries.

To him, the past 100 years have been a time of growth and progress in Egypt-U.S. relations. It has also been marked by bilateral engagements, which have continued to this day.

Amb. Zahran also spoke about his deep desire to see the strengthening of Egypt-U.S. relations through art, culture, food, education, sports, security, and every other viable diplomatic channel.

He also spoke highly of his country, Egypt, by reeling out some of the great attributes the country holds dear. He revered Egypt’s cradle of civilization status and defined it as the root of the beginnings of art and innovation.

He thanked all the artists who participated in the art exhibition and those whose works adorn the halls of the embassy.

Egyptian cuisine was served to all guests to give them a sense of cuisine diplomacy.
