Embassy of Spain To Celebrate Nigerian Artistic Brilliance with Awards Ceremony and Exhibition

The Embassy of Spain in Nigeria is set to host an awards ceremony and art exhibition for the finalists of the 2023 Visual Arts Competition, themed “Inspiring Minds.” Scheduled for November 30th at 6:00 p.m., the event will unfold at the Thought Pyramid Art Centre, offering a platform to showcase the exceptional talent and creativity of Nigerian artists.

The competition garnered a diverse array of submissions, each reflecting the unique perspectives and artistic styles of participating artists. After a meticulous selection process, 19 outstanding artworks earned their place in the final exhibition. The esteemed selection panel, comprised of renowned art experts, including:

Mr. Abraham Bukar – Assistant Director of Curatorial Services at the National Gallery of Art; Mrs. Sorella Acosta – Director of Out of Africa Gallery in Sitges (Spain); Mr. Femi Coker – Manager of Orisun Art Gallery; Ms. Jacqueline Suowari – Artist and Representative of the Society of Nigerian Artists; and Mrs. Eva Barta – Cultural Adviser at the Embassy of Spain.

This distinguished panel praised the high caliber of submissions and commended the remarkable creativity and innovation demonstrated by the artists.

The talented finalists whose works have secured their place in this prestigious exhibition are: Ayoola Oluwaseun Omovo; Ayomide Adebowale; Chukwuebuka J. Okwuba; David I. Sumanu; Emmanuel G. Eweje; Emmanuel M. Idowu; Godstime O. Kator; Isitoruka F. Amuta; John Ali; Kingdavid F. Abraham; May E. Eliye; Moyosoreoluwa E. Ijabiken; Nnamdi H. Udoka; Obinna N. Ozioko; Oluwafemi E. Falodun; Samuel E. Edward; Theophilus C. Agwunwa; Toritseju F. Clarke; and Ver Ikeseh

At the awards ceremony, three exceptional artworks will be spotlighted for their artistic merit and technical excellence. The winners will receive prestigious awards and recognition, acknowledging their significant contributions to the Nigerian art scene. Their work stands as a testament to their talent, dedication, and passion for art.

Organized in collaboration with the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), the exhibition provides a captivating platform for visitors to explore the diverse perspectives and artistic styles of the finalists. Immerse yourself in the world of creativity and imagination as you delve into the themes and narratives that have inspired these talented artists.
