The Embassy of Greece in Washington, D.C. displayed Greek culture and hospitality to visitors during the annual EU Open House event on May 13th. From 10 AM to 4 PM, guests were welcomed with refreshments and offered the Greek welcome stamp on their documents.
Diplomatic Watch Magazine observed that embassy officials engaged with visitors and provided insights into Greece’s rich cultural heritage. Mr. Stefanos Spyrou, First Counselor for Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, answered questions about visiting Greece and gave visitors informational leaflets.
The embassy’s “Glimpses of Greece: Door Portraits” exhibition displayed photographs of doors from across Greece, presenting the country’s unique architectural beauty. Visitors immersed themselves in the vibrant colors and intricate designs of these doors, gaining a deeper appreciation of Greece’s cultural heritage. Traditional Greek music further enlivened the event.
The EU Open House event allows the public to explore embassies and cultural centers throughout Washington, D.C. This year’s event was especially significant, marking the first EU Open House since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
