A farewell dinner was organized for the Ambassador of Indonesia to Pakistan, Adam M. Tugio, at a hotel in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.
Addressing the guests present, Amb. Tugio extolled the bilateral relations both countries share, stating that Indonesia remains an important destination for Pakistanis who want to do business.
He reminded Pakistanis of the freedom they have to practice their religion and culture in Indonesia as he urged them to visit other ASEAN countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, and Malaysia.
Amb. Tugio stated that Faisalabad is also home to Indonesians. He echoed the similarity in their religion, culture, business, and trade, stating that the two countries have old cultural relations that have endured for many years.
He recounted the love shown to him by Pakistanis throughout his stay in the country. He said that the love and devotion shown to him and other Indonesians in the country came from the heart.
The ambassador thanked Nighat Shahid, the former president of the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pakistan, and the business community of Faisalabad.
He said that he congratulated the former president of the Faisalabad Women’s Chamber and business leader on receiving an international award in Italy for her strides in advocating for women in business.
In a special tribute to Shahid, Amb. Tiogo said that she has an important role to play in the empowerment of Pakistani businesswomen, for which he deserves tribute.
In his parting words, the ambassador said that Pakistan is a beautiful country and the people are hospitable and generous.
“Pakistani society is an excellent and generous society that has a lot of diversity, and this is its beauty,” he said.
The organizer of the event, Shahid, referenced the years of relations between the two countries, saying that they have taken different directions, including political and economic paths.
She praised the giant strides of the outgoing ambassador, stating that Tugio was the best ambassador and friend the Pakistani people have seen in the long years of Indonesian relations with Pakistan.
She thanked him and the people of Indonesia.
Among those who felicited with Amb. Tugio on his farewell were Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan Yerzan Kistafin, Ambassador of Malaysia to Pakistan Azhar Mazlan, Ambassadors of Vietnam, Brunei Darussalam, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria, Nepal, Morocco, Kenya, Syria, Ethiopia, Russia, and other diplomats.
Present at the farewell dinner were also people from the government, the Pakistan business community, corporate executives, and the media.
